A study of the oral lesions in six patients with erythema multiforme disclosed that lesions in the epidermal area, of a distinctive pattern, characterized the earlier changes. A spectacular liquefactive degeneration in the upper epithelium followed by intra-epithelial vesicle formation is perhaps unique.
