Oral Lesions of Erythema MultiformeHistologic and Histochemical Observations

Arch Dermatol. 1965;92(5):495-500. doi:10.1001/archderm.1965.01600170011002

A study of the oral lesions in six patients with erythema multiforme disclosed that lesions in the epidermal area, of a distinctive pattern, characterized the earlier changes. A spectacular liquefactive degeneration in the upper epithelium followed by intra-epithelial vesicle formation is perhaps unique.
