Abstract

Histological sections of 200 basal cell epitheliomas were reviewed and classified according to their general architecture. Different patterns are described and it is suggested that they represent an expression of different epithelial-stromal relations. The role of the stroma is stressed. It is considered that, actually, basal cell epitheliomas have an epithelial and a stromal component forming a solid unit.
