This 283-page book, printed in unusually large type and devoid of any photographs, can be read quickly. It is an inexpensive volume and may be purchased in either hard or paper binding.
The stated purpose is to present before the informed medical public newer information in dermatology. Thirty contributors have assumed this responsibility and have written on a wide variety of unrelated dermatologic subjects. Unfortunately, there is much variation in the level of the material presented. The book also suffers from inconsistency in organization and format. For example, the last six chapters concern themselves with "Treatment of Syphilis," "Acne Vulgaris," "Biology of the Wart Virus," "Mucosal Allergy," " Corticosteroid Topical Therapy," and, finally, "A Symposium on Therapy of Malignant Melanoma."
Despite its shortcomings, this book does contain a great deal of clinical information which will be of interest to most physicians not working in this specific field. Up-to-date bibliographies appended to
