A description and photograph of a peculiar change in what was otherwise a fairly typical junction mole is presented. The lesion after removal proved microscopically to be a balloon cell nevus. The absence of any distinctive description or photograph of the clinical appearance of a balloon cell nevus in the literature led to this report.
