This month the Archives is initiating a question and answer series through the efforts of Dr. William Logan, a resident in dermatology at the Mayo Clinic. These questions are similar to the format which appears in the Annals of Internal Medicine and appear at the end of articles in each issue. Answers, with appropriate references, are given on a separate page. Specific page numbers for both the question and answer are listed in the Table of Contents.

In general, questions will be drawn from journals other than the Archives of Dermatology but will deal with aspects of clinical or investigative dermatology or general medicine that have applicability to dermatology. We hope that they will serve as a challenge and as a nidus of thought for resident, academician, and practitioner. For those who feel confident in the breadth and extent of their knowledge, beware!
