The Year Book of Dermatology volumes are among the most useful works published in the field of dermatology. Nowhere else is it possible to get critical editorial comment, grouping of related manuscripts, and full reviews rather than abstracts. From the very beginning, these books have had superb leadership, and the present editors are no exception. Now in their third year, Malkinson and Pearson have made a number of small improvements in an already superior product. The most notable of these is the placement of the editorial comment against a gray background, such that the text and the comments are easily separated. In addition, they have reduced the number of pages from that in the 1972 edition by 10%— a remarkable feat in this day and age of burgeoning knowledge. It is also impressive that only nine months elapsed between the latest articles reviewed and the date of publication.
