The sequential use of a keratolytic gel and corticosteroid ointment in the treatment of hyperkeratotic eczematous dermatitis and psoriasis of the palms and soles was studied. Application of the gel for two to four hours followed by application of corticosteroid ointment overnight, both under plastic dressings, proved to be much more effective than occlusive therapy with a corticosteroid ointment alone. This was particularly true for fissuring and hyperkeratosis.
