Oculoplastic surgery is a rapidly developing area of specialization that parallels the increased patient demand for cosmetic surgery. The volume editor brings his vast personal experience to the successful task of producing well-organized chapters with a thorough, up-to-date format. Putterman introduces each chapter with an overview and critical evaluation; at times he finds it necessary to emphasize—or disagree with—important points of contributing authors.
The text consists of detailed descriptions and excellent, large illustrations of the techniques of cosmetic oculoplastic surgery. Each author has provided a pictorial documentation of results (preoperative and postoperative photographs), a detailed explanation of the surgical procedure, and, in most chapters, excellent references. Other related subjects also are discussed, including photography, dermatopathology, pertinent aspects of psychiatry, and corrective eyelid makeup techniques.
