Laser medicine is rapidly becoming a fashionable area of dermatology, and this textbook, the first on cutaneous laser therapy, is a timely arrival to meet the educational needs of dermatologists. The editors are leaders in the field, and the numerous contributors cover many aspects of a growing area of clinical research. The resultant slim volume provides an introduction to lasers and the small amount that is known about the interaction of laser radiation and skin, a description of port wine stains and results of treatment, the results of treatment of other cutaneous lesions, and an analysis of the psychological results of laser therapy for cosmetic defects. The mix of subjects provides adequate, up-to-date information for the practicing dermatologist who needs to know what laser therapy can offer potential patients. The textbook does not represent a complete how-to-do-it cookbook for the aspiring laser therapist; training in a laser unit would be
