This book is written as a practical guide to the diagnosis of oral diseases and is directed to the practicing dentist and other clinicians in the field. It is the second edition, the first having been published in 1978 and reprinted in 1981. The author, Dr Eversole, is the chairman of the Department of Pathology and Medicine at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
Chapters are organized by signs and symptoms, including "White Lesions," "Oral Ulcerations and Fistulae," and "Papillary, Papular, and Multiple Polypoid Lesions." At the beginning of each chapter is a table listing the entities discussed, diagrams that show the clinicopathologic picture, and introductory remarks. These remarks are followed by a précis of the various entities discussed. These capsules are cogent and succinct, with good references and statements regarding therapy.
