Techniques in Clinical Capillary Microscopy represents a summary of the papers presented at the fifth Bodensee Symposium on Microcirculation in 1985. The contributors to this monograph are among the leaders in the rapidly growing field of capillaroscopy. Therefore, this 150-plus-page presentation is of singular value to those involved in experimental microcirculation research. All of the chapters present detailed methodology in studying vasculature, beginning with clinical video microcirculatory analysis (Zeintl and colleagues) and ending with a comprehensive discussion of the simultaneous combination of laser Doppler flowmetry and capillary blood cell velocity (Fagrell and colleagues), which is of considerable value in the study of hypertension as well as of vasomotion.
The chapter by H. R. Maricq on nail-fold capillary photography is of importance not only to the researcher but to the clinician as well. Dr Maricq, a pioneer and innovator in the field of in vivo capillary microscopy of the cuticle-proximal nail-fold
