Some six million Dutch-speaking Flemings live in the north of Belgium called Flanders. More reserved in nature than Americans, they are also, like many Germanic peoples, neat, clean and reliable. The southern part of the country, called Wallonia, is the home of some three million French-speaking Walloons; they are Latin, more expressive and volatile, and some speak a dialect that even Frenchmen cannot understand.
