THE INTERNET has quickly become one of the most useful sources of information for both patients and medical professionals. Online references and resources are expanding exponentially. To provide free, accurate, and accessible online medical information, Scott Plantz, MD, Mount Sinai Hospital, Chicago, Ill, and Jon Adler, MD, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston, created a Web site for publishing online textbooks (http://www.emedicine.com). Authors and editors are invited to participate in writing the first comprehensive online textbook on otolaryngology–head and neck surgery; the first volume will address facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
