Statins and the Risk of Diabetes: The Debate

We read with interest the report by Culver et al1 that statin use increases the risk of new-onset diabetes mellitus (NOD) in postmenopausal women participating in the Women's Health Initiative. This association remained significant after multivariate adjustments and for all statins evaluated.1
