We acknowledge Morton Satin's interest in our article that found unacceptably high levels of sodium in commonly prescribed hospital patient menus. To put these comments in context, the reader should be aware that the Salt Institute is an advocacy group for the salt-producing industry, which earns income from the sale of salt (http://www.saltinstitute.org).1
