We are pleased that Pader agrees with our most important conclusions about the sizable costs of occupational injuries and illnesses and the paucity of data. We did not, however, completely omit any reference to problems associated with workers' compensation costs. One paragraph addresses some of these problems ("In calculating our . . . ."1(p1565)). These problems deserve more attention. Our article1 is an incomplete summary of a 416-page manuscript that we soon hope to have published as a book. The 416-page manuscript addresses workers' compensation problems at length.
