We appreciate Martin's letter. We agree that LDH isoenzymes have little role in rule-out myocardial infarction protocols and should be replaced by such tests as analysis of troponin I. One of the surprising results of our study was the high rate of noncompliance with published American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology guidelines. A follow-up survey in another 1 to 2 years might indicate if this is still the case.
