Hope for Hops?—Reply

Arch Intern Med. 2002;162(3):364. doi:

In reply

The objective of our recent study was to identify factors that might explain the results from a recent series of Danish studies suggesting that moderate wine drinkers are healthier than those who drink other alcoholic beverages or those who abstain.1 Since the study compared psychological and social characteristics associated with beer and wine drinking in young Danish adults, the findings of the study are primarily relevant for interpretations of studies comparing the putative health benefits of wine and beer, respectively.2-5
