To the Editor The Original Investigation1 and Invited Commentary2 concerning hospice care published in a recent issue of JAMA Internal Medicine validated our experience caring for our 39-year-old sister who died of cancer in early 2015. We are disappointed to learn that our experience was similar to 12.3% of Medicare hospice beneficiaries who died in 2014. Although it is promising that Medicare and Medicaid plan to change payment policies to encourage more visits, it is too late for us, and more must be done to improve hospice care.
