CardioMEMS HF for the Management of Heart Failure—Effectiveness and Value

The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review developed an evidence report, including a systematic literature review and economic evaluation, to support a meeting of the California Technology Assessment Forum on October 29, 2015, on the CardioMEMS HF system (St Jude Medical, Inc) for heart failure (HF).1

The 5-year mortality rate for patients with chronic HF is similar to that for many cancers, and the disease is characterized by high rates of hospitalization.2 Heart failure currently affects more than 6 million Americans and causes 1 million hospitalizations annually.3
