The event described by Mensah in this issue1 occurred when he was a student at a school known for its commitment to preparing a workforce capable of meeting the needs of our increasingly diverse communities, with faculty committed to using science to solve complex problems for our most vulnerable communities, in a medical educational program with social justice as a foundational pillar.
