Abstract

The entire medical profession is indebted to the authors of this monograph. For in it Drs. Long and Bliss have presented a clear and interesting statement of current opinion regarding the clinical usefulness of sulfanilamide and allied compounds. Their own knowledge of the subject is, of course, authoritative.

The book represents an amazing bit of work, for it must have been written during a time when the authors were under great pressure, when new knowledge was coming to light almost every day and when current literature, which had to be read and sifted critically, was growing with prodigious speed. Evidently the authors have felt a strong sense of responsibility for making the information which they have released as recent as possible. The first printing appeared in June, and yet a special addendum was inserted so late as April 25, and the preface was written on February 14. The book, therefore,
