It is stimulating to find such an extremely satisfactory book coming out of wartorn Europe. The author is obviously an accomplished scholar and thoroughly familiar with his subject in an authoritative way. His idea has been to bridge the gap between pharmacology and clinical medicine. To effect this end, he discusses first the chemistry and pharmacology of various substances and then describes the clinical applications. Innumerable preparations are taken up, so that the book really becomes a small encyclopedia. The information given is up up-to-date and in line with sound practice. The book is well printed on good paper and is not paralleled by any English work as far as is known. It is to be highly recommended.
