This is a report of the Twelfth Conference on Liver Injury sponsored by the Josiah Macy, Jr., Foundation. Those persons interested in the liver and its diseases always eagerly await the report of this conference. This report is unusually good, covering broad subjects in the field.

One section is devoted to the liver and carbohydrate metabolism. In this section Dr. Einar Lundsgaard, of the department of physiology of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, has set forth most interestingly the experience in his department with these problems. Dr. Joseph P. Hoet, of Louvain, Belgium, reported some very intriguing work that had to do with glycogen metabolism in the placenta and hormonal changes during pregnancy. The diabetogenic effect of pregnancy is discussed at length in relation to both animals and human beings, and this phase of the work will be particularly interesting to obstetricians and pediatricians.
