This volume records the presentations by laboratory, clinical, and other scientists at the Fourth National Cancer Congress in September, 1960. This conference was joined together by a distinguished committee, the co-chairmen of which were Harry M. Nelson, M.D. and Michael B. Shimkin, M.D., each representing a sponsor, the American Cancer Society, Incorporated and the National Cancer Institute, U.S. Public Health Service, respectively. The coordinator was Ronald N. Grant, M.D. The theme of the Congress, the changing concepts concerning cancer, is skillfully presented.
The format of the book follows that of the meeting. The general sessions (Part I) includes a series of manuscripts on the following subjects: Cancer Etiology, Cancer Pathogenesis and Spread, Cancer in the World Around Us, and Cancer Therapy. Part II records panel sessions on neoplasms of the breast, lung, female genital tract, gastrointestinal tract, male genitourinary tract, skin, head and neck, and the leukemias and lymphomas. Also
