Abstract

This book serves as a companion piece to the earlier "Clinico-pathologic Conferences of the Massachusetts General Hospital: Selected Medical Cases," edited by Benjamin Castleman, MD, and H. Robert Dudley, Jr., MD. As was the instance with the earlier book, this represents 50 cases from the clinicopathologic conferences published in the New England Journal of Medicine. These were selected to represent problems considered primarily as being of surgical interest and are discussed not only by the regular and familiar contributors on the Massachusetts General Hospital staff but by an illustrious list of guest discussants. The cases chosen represent ones from the last quarter of a century, but principally selected from those presented in recent years so that the discussions pertaining to diagnostic tests and evaluation of newer contributions to the subjects are timely. The collection represents some common, many uncommon, and a scattering of rare, diseases and lesions. The presentations are
