The second volume has now appeared and consists of 14 additional monographs on subjects pertinent to liver disease. After a careful study of this volume, I was particularly pleased with the stimulating and refreshing chapter by Elizabeth Leduc on "Liver Regeneration." This is the best that I have ever seen on this difficult subject and it is sure to be widely used and read. C. B. Cameron considers the liver in steroid hormone metabolism. He has developed splendid line drawings of the biochemical and metabolic alterations by the liver that will make this subject comprehensible to all and even retainable to some of us. William C. Shoemaker reviews his excellent work on "Methods and Techniques for the Study of Hepatic Physiology and Metabolism."

G. Majno presents a review of cell death, necrosis and autolysis of the liver that is unique and quite important. It places new emphasis on different methods
