Abstract

Every neurologist and psychiatrist looks forward to the annual unveiling of Spiegel's comprehensive review. During the last 20 years it has become the vade mecum of academician and practitioner of these specialties.

The 1966 edition is of the same high caliber. Once again it is a tribute to Dr. Spiegel's astuteness in choosing his reviewers and to the dedication of the latter who abstracted masses of published articles, many of which are rarely, if ever, available to most neurologists and psychiatrists. The articles included reflect a good deal of critical judgment, although controversial material has certainly not been left out.

Certain chapters appear to be of particular value since they bring together information that is often difficult to locate. Thus the chapters on the autonomic nervous system and the one on neuroendocrine relationships will unquestionably prove of value to those who consult them. The chapters on the various aspects of
