Edited by Howard F. Conn, MD. Price, not given. Pp. 844. W. B. Saunders Co., Philadelphia and London, 1967.
The 1967 edition of Harold Conn's elegant therapeutic goulash is bigger and better than ever before. This is the uncontested winner of the multi-authored textbook competition with 331 faithful co-authors straining at their oars. (This is up 16 from 1966.) This book represents a monument to the managerial genius of Dr. Conn. How he is able (1) to determine who is the expert-of-the-year in a particular area of treatment, (2) to enlist him as a contributor, and (3) to still meet an annual deadline... is sheer editorial magic. Yet he has done it each year for the past 19, and he has few repeaters. Only 96 members of the 1966 line-up made this year's team. Most of his authors are well-known, distinguished in their field of endeavor; others are less familiar. However all share a common talent—competence and experience in the management of the disease about which they write.
