All who are interested in the remarkable science of genetics which has gone ahead at a tremendous rate in the past ten years should read this book. It is fascinating and wonderfully well written. Leonard Engel, now unfortunately deceased, was probably the ablest science writer of his time.
Now that so many diseases are being identified as hereditary in origin, it becomes essential that every physician know something more about genetics. It is sad that so many physicians seem to be willfully ignoring the wonderful discoveries that are teaching us so much, especially about mentally defective and sexually deviated persons. Any number of physicians who have written about the causes of schizophrenia have said either that the cause is unknown or that it is all due to environment and conflict with "difficult" relatives. The work of Franz Kallmann who spent his life studying the heredity of schizophrenia is seldom mentioned
