In th-+e special communication by Feinstein, "Acoustic Distinctions in Cardiac Ausculation," which appeared in the March 1968 issue of the Archives (121:209-224), the following corrections should be noted:
The colon in the synopsis-abstract (page 209, line 10) was misplaced after the words " 'dissection' of." It should have appeared after the words "is a consideration of" (line 13). Thus, the sentences should have read, "A proper description of the phenomena requires a 'dissection' of acoustic gestalts into the sonority, chronometry, and anatomy of what is heard. Included in the 'dissection' is a consideration of: the accentuations of cadence, the 'masking' produced by synecphonesis, and the effects of hydraulic distortion."
The first 13 lines in the first column on page 219 were misprinted. They should have read, "A murmur may 'mask' the associated heart sound, so that the heart sound is not heard at all, or the murmur may supervene the heart
