Approximately every other year for the last seven or eight years the Department of Anesthesiology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans has published a small volume in which they have reviewed certain areas in anesthesiology which are current in the thinking of practicing anesthesiologists. It has been their endeavor to bring out the clinical application of various new ideas and thoughts that have occurred or have been revitalized in the preceding year or two. These small books have improved consistently, and this is the best yet. It consists of 50 chapters of varying length; each takes up in some detail (but not exhaustively) such topics as placental transfer of drugs, teratogenicity, alcoholism as related to anesthesia, metabolism of volatile anesthetic agents, and a host of other topics which have become more pertinent in the practice of anesthesia during the last two years.

I found it extremely useful as a source
