Abstract

Series Haematologica, a journal devoted to review articles in the field of hematology, made a promising start with its first issue in 1968. That initial issue of 161 pages on Serum Groups contained eight informative reviews by leading investigators in that field. However, the present issue does not measure up to the standard of the original issue.

The present issue consists of only 82 pages and contains only two review articles; at the new higher cost of $10, it is exorbitant even by present-day inflated standards, considering that it is merely a paperbound booklet (cost, more than 12 cents a page!). For such a price one could well look for a publication of the highest quality; unfortunately, the issue in question does not meet one's expectations.

The author of the second and longer review article still adheres to the old, naïve view of a one-to-one correspondence between antigens and antibodies.
