This volume is a collection of papers read at a Hahnemann Symposium in November 1968. Hahnemann symposia are wonders of organization. First a large number of authorities in a particular field are assembled in one place to deliver prepared papers. Then, as soon after as possible, these are published in book form. Numerous volumes have already appeared, although few are as elegant as this one. The limited scope of the subject, which in effect is concerned solely with lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), has led to a relatively few papers. These have been logically divided into those dealing with research, hazards associated with nonmedical use, legal issues, social use, and clinical use.
As is often the case, quality of the presentations varies considerably, and much has been published elsewhere. Still, a sampling of such papers under a single cover may provide an impression of the state of the art of LSD.
