Abstract

This is the second volume of a three-per-year series of journals in book form. Presumably the object of this series is to eventually cover the field of cardiovascular disease with papers on pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment. The rapidity with which things change in medicine indicates that this will be a never-ending task. If the series is well received, it may go on indefinitely. This second book in the series looks at the problem of coronary heart disease in 21 papers from the vantage point of 28 authors, each expert in his field. As in most multiauthored books there is variation in style and quality of content from one article to the next. As a whole, the latest information and opinion is well presented by these experts covering the field all the way from the value of mobile coronary care units to the treatment of arrhythmias in acute myocardial infarction.
