Abstract

Eighteen selected subjects are presented reflecting pertinent new information in internal medicine, written by the men who did the work. The galaxy of authors includes Utz on opportunistic fungi in the lungs; Bricker and Klahr on sodium excretion and diuresis; Burchell on a surgical approach to Wolff-Parkinson-White (ventricular preexcitation) syndrome; Federman on testicular deficiency; Kypens on insulin; Ptak and Kirsner on Zollinger-Ellison syndrome; Solomon on drug interactions; Valentine on hereditary hemolytic anemias; Swenson and Sanford on antimicrobial agents; and a raft of other clinician-investigators of similar distinction.

Once again editor Stollerman and his team have performed a service to internists everywhere by sifting through the prodigious mass of literature and selecting important highlights.
