This book explains the basic principles of electrophoresis and immunoelectrophoresis, discusses specific applications of these techniques in the clinical laboratory, and is appended with technical details of each of the methods considered.
The advantages of this text are numerous. It fills a need to assemble information of this type in a concise format. Liberal use is made of well-planned and amply explained illustrations. The excellent drawings and fundamental exposition of basic principles in chapter 1 represent one of the stronger areas of the book, providing a firm foundation for the remaining chapters. Chapter 12 ("Analytical Methods") is particularly strong in relation to the author's stated purpose of a unified approach to laboratory diagnosis. Chapter 15, a compendium of methodology with brief summaries of interpretation, significance, theoretical principles, technical steps, and suggestions is perhaps the most practical part of the book.
