Abstract

Ever since the late Louis S. Regan brought out the first edition of Doctor and Patient and the Law in 1943, the work has been considered the "standard" in the field. Subsequent editions by Regan and later by Stetter and Moritz continued the standard of excellence originally set, and the current edition by R. Crawford Morris and Alan R. Moritz is a worthy successor.

The authors are of unquestioned authority, Morris being a most competent and knowledgeable attorney with extensive experience in the field of law as it applies to medical practice and Moritz an acknowledged expert in "forensic medicine." The book is a testimony to the scholarship of such a team; it is both comprehensive and authoritative.

In selection of material and emphasis, I could find no fault. The work focuses upon four principal areas: rights and duties of physicians, rights and responsibilities of patients and physicians, and medical
