This small volume provides a most extensive bibliography of the recent literature of the viruses of vertebrates. It is a reference text that will facilitate access to literature dealing with viruses. Pathogenic effects are covered only minimally by the direct intent of the authors. For this reason, this volume is not one that would appeal to many infectious disease experts, internists, or pediatricians. The reader will note that the references dealing with some areas are more current than others. Such an example is the discussion of cytomegalovirus; most of the material is from the mid60s.
The work belongs in the reference library, but the field is developing so rapidly that it will have a very short useful life.
