This book embodies the proceedings of the International Study Group for Research in Cardiac Metabolism at their third meeting. As such, it represents the contributions of 169 scientists from throughout the world. Its basic subject is the metabolism of the heart, called here "myocardiology." The book contains papers on myocardial metabolism, free fatty acids as related to the heart, biochemistry of cardiac hypertrophy, hereditary cardiomyopathy, cardiac morphology, structural-functional relationships, myocardial infarction, degenerative and toxic myopathies, electrolytes and cardiovascular diseases, and stress and cardiovascular diseases.
This book is an absolute must for those dealing in cardiac metabolism, but it is also useful for clinicians, pathologists, histochemists, biochemists, and electron microscopists.
