The material in this book is organized into two general areas: medical management of arthritis and the psychosocial aspects of the disease (four of 11 chapters are devoted to the latter). Although physicians should be interested in this aspect of arthritis, they really never take the time to pursue it thoroughly.
Accordingly, this text should serve the allied medical professionals better than the physicians.
There is an extensive appendix dealing with the functional assessment of the patient, and this should serve as a useful guide to those whose primary interest is in this field, ie, physical and occupational therapists.
