Adverse Drug Reactions is British in orientation and represents the recordings of a symposium. The contributors to this book represent people who are capable and knowledgeable in the field, and includes more than adverse drug reactions alone, with chapters on toxicology, animal and clinical pharmacology, teratology, monitoring by pharmaceutical companies before and after marketing, intensive monitoring (three chapters on surveillance, one on retrospective studies, one on prospective studies, and two each on national and international monitoring), clinical vs statistical significance, dissemination of information, and a summary.

Like most British books, it is more pleasant to read than American English. There is one glossy photograph showing intrauterine tetracycline damage to one of a pair of twins, a number of figures, tables, and graphs.

This book is highly recommended both for those well versed in the field of clinical pharmacology and for the neophyte who wishes to gain a wealth of background.
