This volume is essentially the transcript of the Eighth Princeton Conference on Cerebral Vascular Disease held in January 1972. Recently, these conferences have been held biannually in an attempt to update the information available in the area of cerebral vascular disease. A potpourri of subjects is covered, including an evaluation of extracranial arterial surgery in the treatment of stroke, the preliminary results of a randomized treatment program for intracranial aneurysm, a review of the mechanism and potential role of the platelet in symptomatic vascular disease, the pathology and physiology
