Abstract

In the article, "Recognition of Streptococcal Pharyngitis in Adults," published in the November Archives (135:1493-1497, 1975), two errors occurred.

Because the discriminate scores in Fig 2 (p 1496) were calculated using the Fahrenheit scale, the temperature in Table 3 should not have been converted to the Centigrade scale. Therefore, in Table 3 on p 1494, the score assigned for "Oral temperature" should be "3 for each degree over 97 F," not "3 for each degree over 36.1 C."

In addition, the sample calculation, given in line 9 of column 3 on p 1495, should read "(3 × 3) + 17 + 0 + 0 + 11 = 37." As published, the numeral 11 was omitted from the calculation.
