Abstract

In a recent reply to a letter to the editor, "Ampicillin Sodium and Nephrotoxicity," in the June Archives (137:812, 1977), a line was dropped owing to a printer's error. The second paragraph of the reply (column 2, lines 9-15) should have been as follows: "Even though the term 'nephrotoxic' usually refers to acute tubular necrosis secondary to a toxic exposure, perhaps we should have been more precise and stated that ampicillin has not been reported to cause renal tubular damage."
