Abstract

In their preface, the authors state that this book is "an attempt to present to the English-speaking reader a survey of the literature on the biological effects of microwaves.... " The understanding of the authors concerning shortfalls of much of the previous work in this area is highlighted by their strong plea for a multidisciplinary approach to research. To this end, the authors have tried to meet the needs of such a diverse population as physicians, biological and physical scientists, and electronic engineers. In my opinion, they have succeeded and we have, for the first time, a text that logically develops the field in an effective manner.

Definition of terms has plagued the microwave "bioeffects" community for years, and the authors make clear, at the outset, their own use of the language. Of particular interest to the physician should be the chapters on the physical characteristics of microwaves, and the interactions
