—In the article titled "Nail Growth: Thirty-five Years of Observation," published in the January Archives (140:73-76, 1980), on page 73, right-hand column, starting in line 2, the precise entry in Samuel Johnson's diary should have read as follows: "July 26, 1768. I shaved my nail by accident in whetting a knife, about an eighth of an inch from the bottom and about a fourth from the top. This I measure that I may know the growth of nails. The whole is about five-eighths of an inch."
