Pleural Effusion in a Young Woman With Myxedema

Abstract

• Untreated myxedema occurred with bilateral pleural effusions. There are 13 previous cases reported in the literature. This unusual finding may be the most obvious manifestation of hypothyroidism, and this association can be an important clue in diagnosing an unexplained pleural effusion.
