Send manuscripts by first-class mail to Alfred Soffer, MD, Chief Editor, Archives of Internal Medicine, PO Box 776, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Manuscripts are received with the understanding that they are not under simultaneous consideration by another publication. Accepted manuscripts become the permanent property of the Archives and may not be published elsewhere without permission from the publisher (AMA).
In addition, in view of The Copyright Revision Act of 1976, effective Jan 1, 1978, transmittal letters to the editor should contain the following language: "In consideration of the American Medical Association's taking action in reviewing and editing my submission, the author(s) undersigned hereby transfers, assigns, or otherwise conveys all copyright ownership to the AMA in the event that such work is published by the AMA." We regret that transmittal letters not containing the foregoing language signed by all authors of the submission will necessitate delay in review of the manuscript.
