Abstract

In Reply.  —Please accept my apologies for the error that appeared in our article in the August issue of the Archives.1Your article is one of the most important publications bearing on the issue of alcohol intake and blood pressure control, and I regret the mistake concerning its country of origin.I was interested in the contents of your letter bearing on the value of close follow-up of patients with both alcoholism and hypertension. We are embarking on a study of our hypertensive population in an attempt to gauge the contribution of alcohol intake to poor control in United States veterans followed up at a Veterans Administration Medical Center. I suspect alcohol intake will be a major contributing factor.
